Balkan food doesn’t begin and end with one dish. It’s the smell of a charcoal grill, the first crackle of warm pastry, and bread passed across the table.
At Bite of Balkan, we’re bringing these traditions together in a modern kitchen in Burnaby. Familiar if you grew up with them. A delicious place to start if you didn’t.

Across the Balkans, roštilj means more than a grill. It’s a food culture of ćevapi, pljeskavica, and lively conversations around something good to eat.
Ćevapi are small pieces of seasoned minced meat, shaped and grilled. Pljeskavica is a generous grilled meat patty. Simple ideas, with regional traditions all their own.
At Bite of Balkan, charcoal fire will be part of the experience.

Deep roots.
Meet pite (pies): thin dough, generous fillings, and generations of technique. Burek can be filled with meat, cheese, spinach and cheese, or potato. Depending on the filling and local tradition, you may also hear names like sirnica, zeljanica, and krompiruša.
